20 Days Without Carlos
Zine
In 2025, I left for a 20 days trip to Japan, while my cat, Carlos Daniel, stayed behind.
October 2025 arrived and finally a dream was about to come true, all was ready and set for a dream Japan journey. All the excitement and fun were coming along, but one thing was making us a bit anxious: our cat, Carlos Daniel, would stay behind. While we did have a pet sitter in place to take care of him for the days, we couldn’t hold back the urge of checking him out ourselves to make sure he was well taken care of; so, we got a small robot pet camera controlled by a phone app, where we could see him and play with him while away.
This project was made using the Pet camera records, in contrast with photos of our travels taken with an analog Fujifilm Flash S2 from 1972. Where we were, where he was.
I dedicate this zine to my friend Carlos Daniel, who waited patiently for us to come back (because he probably thought that we died), and to the one who united me and him, and had the initial idea for this: Dayana Sasaya.
